  i've never been one to believe in " ghosts " .

  i'm open to the possibility that there may exist something in the afterlife or spirit world- i just don't know what it is.

  having been out of the witnesses over 6 years i had my fill of being a jehovah's witness and being told how " scared " i should be of satan or the demons.

  september 12, 1978, dawned bright and clear with a promise of an early fall coolness to counteract the oppressive heat that had lingered sullenly over the countryside.. in his prison cell, john doe ate his last breakfast, savoring each bite of the crisp bacon, fluffy eggs, and buttery grits.

  the scalding hot coffee, laced with real cream, tasted like the nectar of gods as he swirled it around in his mouth before swallowing it with gusto.. he had arisen early, showering and shaving in the pre-dawn hours before his daily reading of the scriptures.

  I'm interested in the pscyhological makeup of Sylvia at this point.

  I think the words are a demonstration about what she thinks about, even subconsciously. Consider the words "the last supper" are almost never used without a reference to christ. Further consider that the story is about an execution, and a protagonist mimicking Jesus's words "why have you forsaken me?"

  What threw me for a loop though, is the middle name "Philip." That has been referenced in the past as a make believe boyfriend Sylvia had when she was a child.

  Or - my personal pet peeve - "Moby Dick" - supposedly all about the "symbolism" of the white whale and Cap'n Ahab... "Moby Dick" isn't nearly as "symbolic" as the scholars would have one believe - and I've read it many times...

  I'm calling your bluff on that one. I suffered through that book one time, hoping it would get better. It never did.
